Demonte Hood might be the nicest guy in the world. Congratulations to whomever has him as their guy.

This is your destination for all KSU footballer encounters and interactions. Can't wait to hear the tales of old DoD hero's along with the current version we've come accustomed to today.  :lynchmob: (Have fun guys! #gocats)

I bought a Saturday night fever 8 track for Ryan Young (nicest guy ever). He drove an old Lincoln Town car that had an 8 track tape deck.  He loved it.  He also broke the passenger seat of my grand am, that same night the tried to get to Japanese girls to make out it was pretty lol.

Nick Walsh answered an ad where I was selling my Canada goose decoys.  Wanted me to cut the asking price too much, so there wasn't a deal.  Made me sad, those dekes would have looked great at Tuttle.

Lived Next to Matt Miller one year.  Saw him come out of the house about noon on a Wednesday and throw up.  Was not an unusual event..  Reffed Rec basketball and called a phantom foul on Kevin Lockett because I thought there would be no way he could catch the guy that was going for a layup.  not only did he catch him but threw the ball out of there and never touched him. He just laughed after.  Got the answers to a final a week or so before the test from one of the football players.  That was nice. Sat next Jim Hemilewski (spelling?) in history class. he always had shorts and flip flops on even when it was 0 degrees.

Clyde Johnson destroyed me in darts one night at Rusty's Outback.  We were in some Poli Sci class together and the following Monday he told me to find him when I stepped my darts game up.   :D   I actually did start playing darts a little more after that and got better but we never did get around to playing another game of darts.   :frown:

I watched Nick eat a piece of pizza like a snake. It was motivated after someone in the dorms fed their snake a mouse. He attempted to slither into an adjacent room and eat a slice off a plate on the ground.

Similarly, I watched Nick eat a steak like a "savage" at a campout.  He went and hid in the bushes, told us to wave the steak in the air, and then stormed out of the bushes and ripped the steak away with his mouth.

Most Leckey stories involved eating. He was also really good at Tony Hawk and Fifa.

When I worked in the Dillons Video department many of the football players would come in and rent stuff and return it very late or not at all.  Mitch Running would come in a lot and I told him if he scored a touchdown in the Holiday Bowl I would waive all of his late fees.  Obviously I had no authority to do such a thing and of course he scored a TD so I had to beg my boss to waive his late fees.     She was kinda pissed but I said "Yeah but he scored a touchdown because of what I told him!!"     :D

We need more people in positions of power like this to tell the players to play better

Alright dickholes... Well during our freshman year a group of guys on our floor started playing that game where, like in that movie waiting, you get other guys to look at your dick in creative ways. Freeman embraced the hell out of this. To the point where every guy on that floor including our girlfriends had seen his wiener, like, countless times. Like, he thought it was HILARIOUS. Just one of his many little eccentricies

Gerla - Looked more like a safety than a backup punter. Girls agreed. Pulled a lot of tail. Loved to party.

Johnson - Watched him take a dryer ride at the laundromat next to Hunams. Following, went to Hunams and likes-to-fight-Western-KS guy decided to mess with Mike. Likes-to-fight-Western-KS guy found himself in the air being held by his throat. Mike was one the most chill guys I knew, too.

Taco Wallace stood up in natural disasters and said "this ain't no comedy central!" After George Clark cracked a joke.  George also tried to kick out tank for talking and tank wouldn't leave bc he didn't want to get into trouble.

Monty Beisel. would walk into my buddy room at haymaker wearing only underwear and sit down, carry on a long conversation without acknowledging  anything being different. Quincy Morgan used to come in late to geology class, sit in the most awkward to get to lecture hall seat and proceed to take at least one bathroom break during each hour long class. Bishop played hoops often at the rec and was as down to earth as could be. Ben Leger was an ocd neat freak and expert laundry folder.

Met Jake Waters, Curry Sexton, and Zach Trujillo at a bar in Oklahoma City last spring (2014). They were on their way to Padre. It made Jake's damn day that someone recognized him as being "famous". I talked to him for about 5-10 min. I told him that I went to the OSU game in Stillwater in 2013 and he goes "Yeah, I played like 4 snaps", and sounded very butthurt about it. I told him not to crap his pants against Auburn (dead serious) and he goes "Oh, you know I won't". He was pretty nice guy, but just seemed goofy. Also, one of my girlfriends who went down to Padre that same week, apparently had sex with Jake, so that's funny as hell.

I worked with Andre McDonald at a clothing store in High School. Literally for just one day. He was the funniest/weirdest dude. He said he caught balls from Josh Freeman on his visit and that his hands literally had blisters from catching his bullets. Wasn't great at folding clothes.

Was it really as hilarious as it sounds KanSt43?

My goodness, yes.

Is it funny because she had herpes or something because I gotta tell ya the punchline kind of went over my head on this one.      :dunno:

Let's just say Jake could probably do better?

Maybe Jake has a thing for chicks with hairy arms

-I gave Freeman a tour when he got on campus

-I saw Freeman passed out on a pool table at some frat party. They dressed him up as a girl too.

-I always got Jordy Nelson's table at COK. His fiancé stiffed me every time.

-Smoked up with a shitty safety from Topeka and his bro who played for Washburn

-Russ Vanouver and Ted Sims use to come over to my house all the time. My roommates played football with them at Newton.

-That one punter tried to sale me some scheme here in KC.

-The T Newman story about getting roids shipped to him from my roommates.

-Allan Evridge married my dream girl. I was hanging out with her a lot my Sophomore year. She played Volleyball at K-State.  :shakesfist:

-Can confirm that our linebackers from '03-05 coked up a lot.

I've had many other great run ins, but nothing of importance to mention.

I was in a freshman speech class with Tre Walker. We had a group project with these two girls and he asked if I could pick him up from his dorm to go tho these girls house. We got to their house and they were smoking weed and playing Mario Kart on their Wii.

and then ..........

 :impatient:

Be ready for a let down. We just worked on our speech and went home. However, I had to drop Tre off somewhere for his fraternity initiation that night. His quote, "I'm definitely getting hazed tonight."

My freshman year I had Baby Gronk and Stiverson in one of my labs and me and this other chick were good class friends with them and always worked on our projects together then there was this other girl who would try to be ditzy and funny with them because they were football players and they didn't want any of it and thought she was annoying as crap, which she rightfully was. Gronk always hit me up on Twitter asking where the parties were on the weekend!

That fall he went to Kansas State University and became Darnell McDonald.

One time I was at this party at the UC and the girls apartment we were at was right across Jarvis Leverett's crib and he was there and I was drinking sailor jerry and coke. Ran out of coke so Leveritt suggested I just drink the rest of the rum. Said why not? I got this. Ended up terrible. Got blackout drunk and was wasted until 1:00 p.m. The next day. Point of the story Leveritt is a great guy and helped carry me to the car I was given a ride by.

Was at Kaws one night when the Gronk Family came in to town. We were sitting at the bar and the whole Gronk Posse came rolling in. Rob told the bartender to pour 69 shots of fireball. She politely said he'd have to pay for those before they poured him so he pulled out a wad of $100 bills, slapped a few on the bar and said keep the change. He then proceeded to give all of us fireball shots and gronk smashed his shot with Glen. I'm pretty sure Glen was still only 19 at the time. (I also may have posted this in the Gronk thread a while back, I can't remember).

I used to see James Johnson drive a pink moped on the sidewalks of campus pretty regularly, gold grill and all.

Became friends with a football player in my Public Speaking class, and he used to tell me stories about Thomas Clayton and how he would be the last one out of the locker room before team pictures because he'd be doing push-ups and stuffing socks in the front of his football pants.

Terry Pierce once backed out on giving me and my bros a free keg.

There are a crap ton of players that drive mopeds. Its really funny. A lot of linemen driven them too, so the moped looks like a mini-bike. And then they give eachother rides too so youve got two dudes weighing 500lbs collectively on this tiny bike-thing. I laugh everytime I see it happen

Doesn't everyone meet football players in public speaking classes? I had one with Drew Liddle and cornelius lucas my 1st senior year. We had those tiny one piece wooden desks and watching cornelius get in and out of one was interesting to say the least. He gave some hilarious speaches. I think one was on how to tie a tie and another about student athletes needing to be paid.

All of the following happened in one calendar year when I lived with a certain stadium enthusiast next door to Bryan Hickman, Terry Pierce, and Josh Buhl (College Hts. 4 LYF):

1.  Terry Pierce had a giant super-scary rottweiler that barked his ass of constantly and lived on a half-unrolled piece of Wagner Field

2.  Josh Buhl came over to our house once and was all like "is it cool if I borrow your lawnmower" and I was all like "sure" but I thought it was for one time not EVERY GODDAMN TIME HE NEEDED TO MOW THE LAWN FOR THE NEXT CALENDAR YEAR

3.  Once Josh invited us to a party at his house.  Rather than go through the front door, me and our other roommate (not the stadium enthusiast) came from another party through the backyard and entered the back door.  We walk into the living room and there's nothing but 2002 KSU greats smoking weed.  Seriously, all of them.  Name one.  He was there.  And me and my buddy were the only white guys in the joint, and when we busted in everybody was silently like "OH SNAP WHO'S THESE WHITE GUYS THEY MUST BE COPS" and were trying to hide the weed and stuff.  Needless to say there were a couple of very uncomfortable seconds for everyone involved.  It was clear that Terry Pierce didn't even know who we were and I was thinking "come on terry i've lived next to you for like 7 months."  Then, finally Josh Buhl recognized me and was like, "AW, FD, MY N****, GET OVER HERE" and he gave me a high five/half-hug and all tensions were eased and it was easily the best moment of my life.  Then we met JB's dad and called/texted back and forth for several calendar years.

***edit***in retrospect i see that i used the term "calendar year" several times.  not sure why.  not changing it tho

1.  Once Hickman's monthly issue of "Anabolic Insider" accidentally came to our house

2.  We "shared trash" with them, which meant that they brought their trash over to our house on a weekly basis so they didn't have to pay the trash company.  I think they gave us like 10 bucks a couple of times but that was it.  Now that I look back on it those guys were kind of jerks, but they played football, so
 :lynchmob:

3.  Also on the day we moved in me and my roommate went to a garage sale that the MHS drama teacher was having.  We bought a prop electric chair, a female mannequin head, and a giant fish pillow.  Since we didn't know what to do with the mannequin head the roomie climbed a tree in the front yard and slipped her over the end of a branch that had been cut off (think: thimble on a pinky). Josh Buhl came over to introduce himself.  He was like, "I'm Josh....(looks around, sees electric chair, fish, and mannequin head)....is y'alls some weirdos?"

Had into comms class with not quite super famous Michael Bishop in fall 97. Sat in the back of the glass with a group of people and Bishop would only show up once every 2-3 classes and always sit in the back. On test days, he would get there early so he could sit next to the smarty-pants/goody-two shoes girl in the group (not that you needed to be smart to pass this dumb/pointless class). The goody-two shoes was so excited a footballer talked to her, she couldn't help herself.

During tests, Bishop would whisper the question number and goody-two shoes would then whisper back the letter. So, for 45 minutes, everyone in the back of the room would hear:

MB: One
SP/GTS: C
MB: Two
SP/GTS: B
MB: Three
SP/GTS: D

And so on...

One time, Bishop had the audacity to question goody-two shoes, which was a nice change of pace because it went:

MB: Two eight
SP/GTS: A
MB: (pause) Sure?
SP/GTS: A
MB: (pause) C?
SP/GTS: (looks up, looks at MB like the dumbass he is, then looks down again) A

So While I was in College, 06' - 14'(No not a PHD, more like Vanwilder) I got the opportunity to leave and party with multiple purple cat players. The group of guys I lived with were all brothers with a couple of other friends from our Home town, and three of the five brothers had something to do with Kstate athletics. One was part of the Willie squad and I could go in to great detail the hilarity that ensues when drinking and people whip out the mascot head, but thats not really player related. Another brother ran the Audio Video at both Fball and BBall games and the stories he could tell would break goEMAW's server. The youngest brother was a walk on during the prince era and that is where all my personal experiences come from.

1. Yes, Freeman was quite the party animal. One time in particular was the next morning after a party most of us where sitting upstairs being hungover and all of a sudden a striking young filly performs the walk of shame from the basement and out the door. Now all of us roommates were sitting upstairs and we couldn't figure out who else was there. All of a sudden Freeman comes up and is high as hell and just tells us "Man, sorry about your couch but she had to be done man. She wouldn't leave me alone. You might want to throw that couch out." Then he just walks out. We all sit there staring at each other and burst out laughing. Also he signed our living room wall the size of a freaking poster.

There are many more, but this is getting to DNR.

Freeman loved to get baked and sit in my bedroom during parties. I had one of those mushroom chairs that could swallow you up and he would just sit in it and be like martin lawerence in Bad boys 2 when he's high on EX sitting in will smith hot rod talking about how sweet the leather is. Josh would just say" man this is a sweet chair, how much time do you sit in this chair?" and other silly things like that.

Josh Cherry loved top show up and just creep on thick girls at the bar we had in our house, kinda weird. He wasn't a bad guy its just that he always had a thing for a girl that had a little extra weight.

Lamark lived at our house for a semester or so. This is before he even played and I walked in one day and there's this 6'4" black spartan sleeping on your couch and I'm like "uh, whats up man?" Cool dude though. we would take him back to our small town just to freak people out.

DJamer fulhage left is balmese python at our house once cause he was going to be out of town for a while and never came back to get it.

It would be easier to name a player from that era and I probably have a story about them.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we're from the same town jrod....

Had natural disaster with Mueller and some other football players back when it was in the chapel for the beginning of the semester my sophomore or freshman year. They'd always sprawl out on the floor in the back. I joined in the back one time and napped too. It was great.

This is why I come to this thread

jrod, you should share any safe for goEMAW information you feel comfortable with as far as I'm concerned.

I destroyed nick leckey in tekken tag and quake 3 daily
I watched Nick eat a piece of pizza like a snake. It was motivated after someone in the dorms fed their snake a mouse. He attempted to slither into an adjacent room and eat a slice off a plate on the ground.

Similarly, I watched Nick eat a steak like a "savage" at a campout.  He went and hid in the bushes, told us to wave the steak in the air, and then stormed out of the bushes and ripped the steak away with his mouth.

Most Leckey stories involved eating. He was also really good at Tony Hawk and Fifa.

Played basketball with Percell Gaskins at the rec.  He jumped over my head and dunked on me, it was kind of awesome.

Ryan Young broke my passenger seat in my car.  It was a piece of crap 2 door grand am and he is a big boy.  plus he had a Japanese girl on his lap.

Watched Jeff Kelly use a fraternity bros head to clean the wheel well of someones car outside of lucky's Brew grill.

Watched Cornelius Lucas get stuck in a small desk in class one time. Drew Little helped him out of it.

Fraternity bro of mine helped hide Josh Freeman in  closet when their party got busted. It was a Friday night before a game too.

Girl I knew was on and off with Glen Gronk. Got to meet him and his brothers when they were in town that first year for spring game when they were driving around town shotgunning beers randomly in peoples front yards. Later that night got Gronk bought 69 shots of fireball at Kaws and handed them out to everyone around him. He gronk smashed his plastic shot glass of course.

Same girl from last story said Sprads was horrible in bed.

Coming back from the Fiesta Bowl we flew out of Vegas and stayed there a night. Went to a bar in our hotel and the bar tender turned out to be the back up QB for the cats in '94. He had also just got back from the Fiesta Bowl. He gave us double jack and cokes for free all night.

Man, college was fun.

The opposite of this thread, but it belongs here.  Freshman year of HS my girlfriend was cousins with back-up QB Casey Vidricksen.  Casey got married, and since we were 14 or 15, I wasn't invited to the wedding as her date.  As such, I made other plans for the night.  When I got home that night, I found out she called and was trying to find me to come to the reception.  I was 14 or 15, so the idea I should go to the reception never crossed my mind.  When I finally talked to her, I found out the reception was full of mid-to-late 1990s Cats that I idolized and I missed out on meeting them all.  One of my top 5 most bummed moments of my life.

Canadian friend was like, "You know, I think one of your alums plays for my school. Do you remember Cornelius Lucas?" The principal's eyes lit up and he goes, "Oh, you mean Big Sexy???"

Baby Gronk and I had a lab together freshman year and we were always lab partners together with a couple other 'Cat players and one of my friends. She was always acting dumb and trying to impress him. He would always tell me how annoying and weird she was. He also would dm me on twitter asking where the parties were.

Just read this thread for the first time.  JFC.

Ryan Young broke my passenger seat in my car.  It was a piece of crap 2 door grand am and he is a big boy.  plus he had a Japanese girl on his lap.

Was at the karaoke bar on bourbon street (the cat's meow?  :ksu: ) and was at the bar ordering some beers for the group of buds I was with (10/12 were :ksugrad: ). I look over to the staircase and who do I see? Baby Gronk. He was wearing a red cut off (and not just a normal cut off...the low, weightlifting type of cutoff with like 3 inches of fabric holding the bottom together) that had "GRONKOWSI" on the back. I obviously yelled "GLEN!" and proceeded to high five him and we all threw up the  :lynchmob: for a few beautiful seconds.

Please answer the following questions

1. How blasted did he get? like 11/10?
2. What kind of beer was a drinking?
3. Did he bring his own food to grill out or did he just eat the food other people brought?
4. Do his buddies call him bazooka joe?

One of the 2 guys that just installed some safety brackets on my balcony railing played with Tearrius George at LA Valley College.  Said he was the only guy who could block Tearrius, and that Tearrius was killing it in the CFL and was defensive MVP.

I checked after the balcony work was all done, and it turns out Tearrius isn't the MVP, but rather retired last year under the thumb of a possible lifetime ban for domestic violence.

Not sure if this is relative to discussion because of the old schoolness of the Cat, but while grubbing at QT in Belton exchanged some chat with Paul Coffman. Very nice guy, still loyalist to the program.

This thread is an incredibly fun re-read. Any of you youngsters in college now have any good interaction stories with current qats?

I think some of these stories have been shared in the Gear Bear thread a while ago, and they were from before Gear Bear was a qat, but don't some of the 'tatown wrestling weirdos on this board have some stories about him doing funny weird stuff in hike school?

Not of a player. But I about ran into Gene Taylor coming out of the bathroom at halftime in the pressbox during the first game.

When I was a student at KSU, I delivered pizza.  I once delivered pizza to Meshak Williams and Arthur Brown was there too.  I'm a little guy at 5'6 and those two men were the largest dudes I have ever seen.  They were cool and they tipped, which says a lot.

I worked at Derby Dining Center when I was a student at KSU.  Martin Grammatica would have his arms loaded with dishes to put on the conveyor going into the dishwashers.  I don't know if he just ate a crap-ton of food or if the other players made him clean up their dishes (or maybe he was just being a nice guy...all the time).

Hung out with my buddy Alesana in Manhattan the night of the first game this year. He and his brother in law got hammered drunk with us.  Seems to be doing well, enjoying life.  I bet he only weighs 240-250 now... Tiny compared to the last time I saw him. Short hair now too.

I worked at Derby dining in 93-94. Martin came out and played pickup bball on the outside court and had no idea how to play but ran everywhere like his air was on fire.  Everyone cheered when he finally made a layup.
