I refer to everyone as "guys" even if they are in fact girl guys. I have a new girl peer and I asked her permission to continue referring to the group as "guys". she said it was actually good. actually bad though?

I've said folks. Feels pretty hokey but is gender neutral.

My last job had a ton of women so you were really conscious of it. One guy I worked with wasn't exactly good with the social aspect of things would refer to a group of women in positions of power as "you girls".

And yeah her saying "it's fine" doesn't exactly make it fine since it sounds like she's the only female in the boy's club. It might be! But her saying it's fine doesn't make it so.

It is very sexist and misogynist to use the term guys when women (ciswomen or those who identify as women) are included. But I continue to use it until someone comes up with a non-stupid alternative.

Someone who is cisgender is a person who identifies as the gender that matches the body that they were born with.
