Although Minor/Soria/Alexander/Maurer/Buchter have not been good since the AS break,
Herrera has been solid in clutch situations.

Last 14 Appearances with game tied or KC up 1-2 runs --
13 times didn't allow a run. The 1 did he did allow 2 run HR, we rallied for walk off W
13.2 Innings, 2ER, 14 Hits/BB

The pen has been shitty the past couple of weeks, but they also aren't that far removed from a 27 IP scoreless streak either. Ebbs and flows of baseball.

it is obvious to everyone that breaking the season down into 11-game pods is helpful in evaluating this year's royals. let's take a look and see how they've fared so far:

pod 1 1-11: 5-6 L
pod 2 12-22: 2-9 L
pod 3 23-33: 5-6 L
pod 4 34-44: 6-5 W
pod 5 45-55: 6-5 W
pod 6 56-66: 8-3 W
pod 7 67-77: 6-5 W
pod 8 78-88: 6-5 W
pod 9 89-99: 8-3 W
pod 10 100-110: 5-6 L

after a rough start losing the first three pods, ned stark's squad has rallied to take 6 straight. but the run has finally come to an end after taking the L in the most recent pod. we'll check in after the conclusion of 11-game pod #11. game #111 is tonight. go cats.

Let me break it down for you.

I'm enjoying watching the guys on the team play the game they love.

I've adopted the mentality of just enjoying watching to pass the time like I used to when the Royals weren't any good. It's more fun to do this with the group of guys we have now as they were once a great team.

Baseball exists solely to kill time til football season in my eyes anyway. Fill the void between basketball and football.

Gordon has company for most worthless Royal of 2017
Kennedy is making a charge.  He's 5.06 ERA is half a run worse than the " average AL starter ERA"

However his 6.01 ERA in last 18 starts is just a joke
Guts had a 6.10 in 24 starts in 2015.  He would have been released if not for expanded rosters in September

Of the 130 MLB guys with 80+ innings, Kennedy is 101st on ERA. 130 is almost 4.5 per team.

Only 4 have an ERA of over 6.00, so his last 18 starts, he's been pitching like 1 of the worst 5-10 guys in baseball.

I agree with Ned that he was out there competing.  Not like many other pitchers I have seen that just lay down on the mound and pretend to be asleep when they don't have their stuff working.
