I get the Alex critique right now and it's justified, but the biggest thing we'll all look back on if this team misses the playoffs is this terrible pitching. ERA of 6.00 and WHIP of 1.47 in August. Ned's bullpen formula doesn't have the parts to be effective and I'm not sure he can figure it out or if it's fixable. Blowing that game last night was pretty terrible, but Ned had to stick with "Soria in the 8th". It's broken Ned.
Yeah, the 2 things will be the absolutely pathetic offense scoring 82 in first 30 games. We wasted great 3.33 ERA starting pitching. Could have won 5-6 more just scoring 4.0 runs
2nd thing is the pitching ever since. 30 game and now current 35 game stretch for a combined 5.91 ERA from starters. The 23 games in between those stretches, the starters did well (3.07) but it's not enough games of good starts.
Just in the last 34 games, Soria has let 4 leads in the 8th disappear and he lost a game that was tied in the 9th. We lost 4 of those 5.
Last night was 8th time Soria or Herrera gave up lead in the 8th or 9th and we lost. 2 more times Herrera or Soria lost a game in the 9th (gave up runs in tie game)
