I get the Alex critique right now and it's justified, but the biggest thing we'll all look back on if this team misses the playoffs is this terrible pitching. ERA of 6.00 and WHIP of 1.47 in August. Ned's bullpen formula doesn't have the parts to be effective and I'm not sure he can figure it out or if it's fixable. Blowing that game last night was pretty terrible, but Ned had to stick with "Soria in the 8th". It's broken Ned.

Yeah, the 2 things will be the absolutely pathetic offense scoring 82 in first 30 games. We wasted great 3.33 ERA starting pitching.  Could have won 5-6 more just scoring 4.0 runs

2nd thing is the  pitching ever since. 30 game and now current 35 game stretch for a combined 5.91 ERA from starters. The 23 games in between those stretches, the starters did well (3.07) but it's not enough games of good starts.

Just in the last 34 games, Soria has let 4 leads in the 8th disappear and he lost a game that was tied in the 9th. We lost 4 of those 5.

Last night was 8th time Soria or Herrera gave up lead in the 8th or 9th and we lost. 2 more times Herrera or Soria lost a game in the 9th (gave up runs in tie game)

Melky was a good pickup, everything else Dayton has done this year has been a disaster

Royals have had flyouts in this series to the wall, to the warning track, or 8-10 feet shy of the warning track. I've seen 8 myself.

I'm awake and will be watching any potential late inning meltdowns

I didn't get to watch today, but just as I expected Gordo had 2 RBI and the game winner.

IF we make the playoffs, we're a quick out.  Our bullpen is the worst in MLB right now according to stats thrown up during today's game.

I think we can get creative in a playoff scenario with the pen.   Cahill and Junis may be able to be effective and we can throw Hererra's arm off.

Well, in reason #486 why pitcher "win" stats are absurd, Maurer did get the "win" today after entering the game in the 8th innning and promptly giving up 4 hits and 2 runs to allow Oakland to tie the game. However, he also earned a blown save.

I mean we knew what we had from a bullpen standpoint in 2014 and 2015 was special, but looking back now and comparing to this year it absolutely blows my mind.  I remember Royals being up by 1 run in the 6th of many games and could have confidently shut it off and continued my day knowing we were going to win.

I miss HDH and HMD (plus Hoch) days.

Brett got to .401 37 years ago today.
He hit .468 over 58 games to raise his Ave from .247 to .406

What a freaking Stud

I'm going to head to the K Saturday night hoping to see Moose tie or break the record. One of my last chances to get out this year, so hopefully its a good one.
