The people that complained to get Frank run out of town and the ones that support this sack of crap loser coach should be banned for life from attending any K-State sporting events once said sack of crap is finally done destroying this program.
The results on the court this year will determine my position on Weber.  Right now I support this group of 13 scholarship players plus walk ons and I actually hope we win games this year.  I'm not cool enough to be a KSU basketball fan and root for them to lose.  If that means you think I should banned for life, I'll still do my best to buy season tickets next year.

Back to the thread.  Reno is right about depth in the front court.  Mawien at 6 ft 9 averaged 41% from three last year and 2 blocks a game.  Has put on 25 or so lbs since high school.  Should be able to back up Wade plus play significant minutes at the 5.

Cat97, some guys had the wallies soaked in chlorox and their blowhole rubbed raw with steel wool, and they lash out.  I admire their hate zeal for weber and wetdreams for the 2nd coming of frank, but passion won't change things.   I would rather have a good year with weber, than a Mizzou Anderson melt down.  I think oscar success is good.  I think he will leave for another job before he gets canned.  If we go toiletville we won't be able to  hire a good coach.  I think we have some better than average players now, no studs, but we can wear other team's down.   The Huggins model.

Reno, thats about where I am at.  The Weber deal will sort itself out and won't be changed before this season plays out and is not worth me giving it any thought.  This group of players has a lot of interesting components to watch.

What part of, "Nobody cares anymore" do you folks not comprehend?

This isn't anger at Oscar, revenge for Frank being run-off, or angst at Currie's mismanagement of people.

We can't muster the interest in the program anymore.

The administration doesn't seem to care that the team hasn't mustered a meaningful run in the post season in 7 years. There are no top flight McDonald's All American players coming to Manhattan anymore. When players leave the program, voluntarily or not, they don't go to Power 5 schools. They end up at lower tier programs or even jucos.

What kind of excitement can that mediocre effort at assembling excellence generate?

We don't care anymore. We can't.

Seriously, what part of I don't care if you don't care do you not comprehend.

Also, If you follow KSU basketball, you would realize Wally Judge is the only McDonalds All American I remember since Huggins brought in Beasley.  How did Wally work out.  However, I am very happy Frank brought in a four star McGruder came with him and I loved watching him play. We have a couple of four star players on the team now.

Who? Stars earned for spelling your name correctly in Kindergarten don't count.

ESPN's more realistic ranking would disagree...

Three stars...

No stars...

And toward my original question....when can we expect to see another Elite Eight type run from this program?

Yes, the zero star rating for Wade is more realistic.

This was the statement you made.  The administration doesn't seem to care that the team hasn't mustered a meaningful run in the post season in 7 years. The meaningful run in 7 years is fact although I was pretty satisfied with the team we had in Martins last two years and Webers first year..
I don't know how this team will do this year in the post season or if they even make the post season but I'll be watching.  New administration with no former allegiance will make the program decisions.

The teams Oscar has built (and been able to keep) are nowhere close in talent level to just the team Oscar inherited from Frank. There is no reason to think this team will appear in the NCAA tournament much less make an Elite-8-level run.

The apathy comes from us knowing that this program was heading nowhere under Oscar for several years prior to Currie's departure. So now we have to wait until the new AD figures out that Oscar is over-matched at the Power 5 level? How long will that take?

That's why we can no longer care.

You may be right about the talent on the team Weber inherited vs the talent on this team but McGruder at 15 pts per game was the only returning player averaging double figures.  Will Spradling was next at 9 pts per game.

I'll go with the 247 composite so only one four star on this team.

Point established that Oscar has, in balance, reduced the KState Men's basketball program in both performance and stature.
