I would absolutely rather lose in the first round of the tournament than win the nit and it isn't particularly close. I watch the nit and I have no idea who won it last year. I could absolutely list every P5 school who made last year's tournament.

Not that one, ewww. There's no chance you'd wear a NIT Champions t-shirt. The NIT was cool Huggins' year because of the terrible drought we were in, and it's cool for TCU for the same reason.

You can't want oscar out then say you'd be happy with a NIT run. I feel like oscar would own the crap out of the NIT.

Nit.  Proves that that you are the half full champions.

Uhhh no.

Looks better getting into NCAA Tourney as any seed. Our Frosh/Soph got to play 2 games in the "actual tournament" and hopefully that experience will help in 18' & 19'

Congrats to TCU on winning the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl of postseason basketball tournaments.

Would much rather make the field of 64.

An NCAA Rnd of 64 loss is always better, but an NIT title for a program that hasn't been to the NCAAs since 1998 and hasn't even been to the NIT since 2005 (CBI in 2012) is a good thing. An NIT title for a program that has been in the NCAAs regularly for a decade and has an Elite 8 in that time frame is pretty worthless and sad.

I don't think I could name them from this season without cheating.

Fair.

And I know I'd get caught up in it and be going way overboard about an NIT title.

and of course an NIT 'ship would still fit perfectly in to anyone's pre-fab narrative with just as much ease as a first four.

This is the dumbest argument of all time. I rather lose by 30 in the opening round of the tourney vs winning the shitty NIT.

Exactly what just happened. Listening to ppl bitch about oscar winning a NIT is "such a oscar thing to do" would have been painful BBS'ing.

Winning the NIT used to be springboard for teams making the NCAA the following season, but not recently. In the past 8 seasons only 2011 WSU and 2013 Baylor made the NCAA the next season.

On one hand, shitty games going through the end of march?  :flush:

On the other hand, could've had a proper season finale for sergio.

Back to the original hand, scheme shut their doors for all those deep nit games.
