Barnes as COY is a joke. Either Lon or Self, with a lean toward Lon for coaching up a tram with far less talent than KU, should have won it.

Glad to see Marcus get some accolades.

Lon or Self should be COY.

Don't really get Foster on Def 2nd team, but yippie for him.

Will even as HOM is laughable.

By the time you get to HM, that's over 25 players in a conference with around 50 total starters. So, being tagged as mediocre for a 4-year starter seems pretty meaningless. So I'm ok with it.

good for Marcus.

I disagree with the POY pick and I hate the COY pick, that should have been Self or Lon. Also I think Ellis should have been second team over Holmes.

Pretty much agree with all this. Self is basically COY every year.

There are people in this world actually upset with the Big 12 HM selections.  Amazing.

even more reason why Foster deserves more love. If he's our only player sniffing these lists and we're a tourney team, what does that say?

these conference awards make me feel really rough ridin' stupid for being even a little upset with our 10-8 conference record the last few days.

Yeah, if you judge anything based on these awards, oscar and his staff did one heck of a job with this team.

To an extent. I really like the way he developed this year, but he certainly wasn't 1st or 2nd team level. The coaches giving him HM is probably about right.

Here's a comparison from the KC Star with their team, Coaches, and AP: http://www.kansascity.com/2014/03/09/4877286/complete-list-of-all-big-12-teams.html

Everyone talks about OSU and BU underachieving, but with two 1st team guys and the POY, you could argue ISU was up there and should have contended with KU for the league title.

Yeah, I thought about Texas as being the other team who overachieved considering who they had on all league teams. Granted, the AP had 3 Longhorns as HM. OU only had a 2nd team AP player (2 HM) as well. This sort of explains the Coaches/AP voting for Barnes and Kruger.

It still mystifies me that recruiting is not viewed as part of coaching.

Hopefully oscar can recruit better players so he doesn't have to be such an awesome coach.
