I mean the people here want those standing desks, but they cost more money so we can't have them. And people bitch to every Danish manager that comes over that we want the standing desks.
I read an article awhile back that said productiivty decreases pretty drastically and error rates increase pretty drastically with the standing desks. That may be why they are resistent to them rather then the cost. I'm guessing a company would recoup the cost of the desk pretty easily in reduced health care costs.
I haven't read anything that addresses errors, but I have read plenty of things that say productivity, creativity, and problem solving increase. They usually reference the difference to an increase in blood flow. I am someone who walks around a bunch when on the phone and honestly feel like I think better like that.
Like I said, the first week will probably suck until I get used to it, but afterward, I think it will be fine. My biggest initial concern is typing. I type slower when standing and without anything supporting my arms.
